A diagram of a constant level balloon used in the TWERLE (Tropical Wind and Energy Reference Level) experiment in the Southern Hemisphere in the 1970s. This balloon carried aloft a train of instruments which made atmospheric measurements and transmitted the data gathered to a weather satellite.
